Restoring a century-old theater is a significant undertaking. Every improvement—from seating and lighting to sound, projection, accessibility, and restoration—helps move us one step closer to opening the doors once again.

Your contribution will directly support improvements and equipment needed to reopen the Majestic Theater, including projects such as:

  • Electrical upgrades (required to open, ~$50k)

  • Sound and lighting equipment

Friends of the Majestic Theater Fund

The Benicia Community Foundation has established the Friends of the Majestic Theater Fund to raise and administer charitable donations supporting arts, cultural, educational, historic, and community programs at or connected to the Majestic Theater once reopened.

Opened in 1920, the Majestic Theater has been part of Benicia’s history for more than a century. Generations of residents have gathered there to enjoy films, performances, entertainment, and shared community experiences.

Supporting the Friends of the Majestic Theater Fund helps preserve that legacy while creating new opportunities for students, artists, performers, families, seniors, and nonprofit organizations. Every contribution helps bring people together, strengthen the performing arts, expand access to cultural and educational programs, and ensure that this treasured community landmark continues to inspire future generations.

Donations to the fund may support:

  • Live theater, concerts, music, dance, and other performing arts.

  • Community and independent film screenings.

  • Film, theater, music, and arts education.

  • Benicia High School performances and student arts programs.

  • Youth theater, workshops, rehearsals, and educational activities.

  • Programs serving seniors, families, schools, nonprofit organizations, and underserved residents.

  • Historic exhibits, archives, lectures, and educational materials related to the theater.
